Came for lunch. Lunch area was busy. I was going to have the Old Hooky but then noticed that it had that 'coming soon' sign on it. Not soon enough.

Give Tim Martin his credit. He make's less than 15% of his money from Real Ale yet it's the best publicised thing in his pubs. No one else much in. Seemed to be more off duty staff than customers which is a shame as it was a great beer festival. They did special third pint glasses on a labeled tray, 3 for £1.89!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Jennings (since closure now brewed at Marston's) - Sneck Lifter5.10ExcellentHad a pint of this as Ian's always saying how good it is and I've never tried it. He's right, it's great. Dark brown beer with mellow roasted coffee and a hint of toffee.
Arran (formerly Isle of Arran) - Dark4.30Good1/3 pint tasting. Light brown in colour. Peaty with rose petal and a short lived richness. A heathery hop finish
Cains - Fine Raisin Beer5.00Good1/3 pint tasting. Smells of sweet raisins. Light brown colour. Candy raisin flavour with a smooth mellow hop finish
Hydes - Atomic4.90Good1/3 pint tasting. Ruby black brown colour. Smooth plum and prune flavours. Powdery.

Busy on a Friday night but not so much so that we couldn't get a seat. The beer was served in plastic glasses.

The pub is found in Herne Bay, Kent, CT6 5JQ.

By Wetherspoon standards this is quite a small pub with a meandering layout. Situated on the sea front in Central Parade so it has good views out to sea. The southeast coastline of England was once known as the Saxon Shore, from the military forts built along it during the late Roman occupation. Today, the Saxon Shore footpath passes along Central Parade and has given its name to this Wetherspoon pub.

We have visited this pub 35 times, seen 85 different beers and tried 34 of them.
