Visits Details
08 Nov 2013 (Stephen Harris)
The first evening of a three day beer festival to celebrate the second anniversary of Tap East Brewery coming on stream.
| Redemption - Little Chief | 4.20 | | Lovely. |
| Tap East - Scarred Belgian | 7.40 | | Beer brewed in collaboration with Celt Experience. In a Belgian Tripel style. |
| Tap East - London Wit | 4.40 | | Beer brewed in collaboration with London Brewing Co. Cloudy wheat beer in Belgian style. |
| Bexar County - Sabor | 4.30 | | A dark, hoppy beer. |
| Tap East - American Tonic | 3.80 | | This beer is a blend of the usual Tonic Ale and the American Pale Ale. Pretty good, but I think I prefer both of them straight. First beer to sell out. |
| East London (ELB) - Nightwatchman | 4.50 | | This cask dry-hopped with East Kent Goldings (another was available with Brewers Gold). Unfortunately it was in very flat condition from the stillage and lacking in even the usual flavours. |
| Shiny - Pail NZ | 4.00 | | Another that suffered from lifeless condition, subduing all flavours. |
| Sambrook's - Powerhouse Porter | 4.90 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Smokestack Porter | 6.50 | Not Tried | |
| Oakham - Green Hop Harvest Ale | 3.60 | Not Tried | |
| Siren Craft - Ryesing Tides IPA | 7.40 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Latte in the Morning | 4.40 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Scarred American | 6.60 | Not Tried | |
| Windsor & Eton - Special IPA | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Windsor & Eton - Irish Conqueror | 5.80 | Not Tried | |
30 Oct 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Mid-shopping visit.
| Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Tasty and hoppy. |
| Oakham - Citra | 4.20 | | As good as this beer always is. |
| Tap East - East End Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried | |
24 Oct 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening visit, my head buzzing after a day attending a ‘Pollinator Workshop’. Rather busy here.
| Oakham - Asylum | 4.50 | | Nice and balanced and full-bodied. |
| Alechemy - Citra Burst | 5.40 | | Yep, that’s full of Citra all right. |
| Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Niwot | 6.20 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - IPA Vic Secret | 5.60 | Not Tried | |
10 Oct 2013 (Stephen Harris)
I hadn’t planned to come in here, honestly. But walking past I spotted Steve from Ramsgate at the bar, and then Steve from Lewes appeared. So we set up a little Steve’s Corner.
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | | |
| Tap East - IPA Vic Secret | 5.60 | | Fiercely-hopped IPA. |
| Franklins - Viva La Rye | 4.30 | | The clip gave the abv as 4.3%, so this may have been a different beer. Golden, malty, rye beer. |
| Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried | |
| Oakham - Twenty Years | 5.80 | Not Tried | |
02 Oct 2013 (Stephen Harris)
I met my friend Jeff here in the mid-evening. He’s a bit footsore after a full day’s guided walking tour of Woolwich (Yes, really, Woolwich – I’m not making that up).
| Siren Craft - Half Mast QIPA | 2.80 | | This appears to be a different beer from the ‘½ Mast, Quarter IPA’ by the same brewer. It is an astonishing beer. The lowest strength one yet that I have seen in the golden, hoppy style. And remarkably tasty. |
| Tap East - East End Mild | 3.50 | | |
| Oakham - Inferno | 4.00 | Not Tried | The fastest seller tonight. |
| Celt Experience (now brands are owned by Evans Evans) - Silures | 4.60 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - London Extra | 5.30 | Not Tried | |
26 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening visit and the pub is busy. The fact that two new beers are being launched tonight is responsible for part of the crowd.
| Tap East - IPA Vic Secret | 5.60 | | Full-bodied IPA that tastes even stronger than 5.6%. Amber-coloured. Sharply and intensely hopped. |
| Tap East - Saison Vic Secret | 6.30 | | Full-blown, golden, cloudy Saison. Spicy, peachy, strong and sour. |
| Woodforde's - Wherry | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
| Mallinsons - Sussex Amarillo | 3.70 | Not Tried | |
22 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Mid Sunday evening and there is plenty of custom here.
| Siren Craft - Liquid Mistress Red IPA | 5.80 | | Very mellow. Like drinking chilled, molten toffee. |
| Mallinsons - Sussex Amarillo | 3.70 | | Golden. A very classy pint I thought. Plenty of hop character. |
| Tap East - East End Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
| Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale) | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
| Woodforde's - Bure Gold | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
20 Sep 2013 (Philip Pirrip)

16 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Post-shopping trauma, quick pint.
| Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale) | 4.30 | | Excellent, fruity US-style Pale ale. |
| Woodforde's - Nelson's Revenge | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
| Swannay (formerly Highland) - Sneaky Wee Orkney Stout | 4.20 | Not Tried | Apparently the words 'sneaky wee' on the pump clip have been putting some customers off this one. |
| Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried | |
14 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
A late visit up to closing time with a bunch of stragglers from the Truman’s launch event that I had offered to show the way on foot across the Olympic Park. Other beers as listed by ChrisE.
| Swannay (formerly Highland) - Sneaky Wee Orkney Stout | 4.20 | | A pretty good, black stout. |
