Early evening visit, my head buzzing after a day attending a ‘Pollinator Workshop’. Rather busy here.
Oakham - Asylum | 4.50 | | Nice and balanced and full-bodied. |

I hadn’t planned to come in here, honestly. But walking past I spotted Steve from Ramsgate at the bar, and then Steve from Lewes appeared. So we set up a little Steve’s Corner.
Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00
Tap East - IPA Vic Secret | 5.60 | | Fiercely-hopped IPA. |
Franklins - Viva La Rye | 4.30 | | The clip gave the abv as 4.3%, so this may have been a different beer. Golden, malty, rye beer. |
Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 4.70 | Not Tried
Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried
Oakham - Twenty Years | 5.80 | Not Tried
02 Oct 2013 (Stephen Harris)
I met my friend Jeff here in the mid-evening. He’s a bit footsore after a full day’s guided walking tour of Woolwich (Yes, really, Woolwich – I’m not making that up).
Siren Craft - Half Mast QIPA | 2.80 | | This appears to be a different beer from the ‘½ Mast, Quarter IPA’ by the same brewer. It is an astonishing beer. The lowest strength one yet that I have seen in the golden, hoppy style. And remarkably tasty. |
Tap East - East End Mild | 3.50
Oakham - Inferno | 4.00 | Not Tried | The fastest seller tonight. |
Celt Experience (now brands are owned by Evans Evans) - Silures | 4.60 | Not Tried
Tap East - Coffee in the Morning (has been 5.7% too) | 5.60 | Not Tried
Tap East - London Extra | 5.30 | Not Tried
26 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening visit and the pub is busy. The fact that two new beers are being launched tonight is responsible for part of the crowd.
Tap East - IPA Vic Secret | 5.60 | | Full-bodied IPA that tastes even stronger than 5.6%. Amber-coloured. Sharply and intensely hopped. |
Tap East - Saison Vic Secret | 6.30 | | Full-blown, golden, cloudy Saison. Spicy, peachy, strong and sour. |
Woodforde's - Wherry | 3.80 | Not Tried
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried
Mallinsons - Sussex Amarillo | 3.70 | Not Tried
22 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
Mid Sunday evening and there is plenty of custom here.
Siren Craft - Liquid Mistress Red IPA | 5.80 | | Very mellow. Like drinking chilled, molten toffee. |
Mallinsons - Sussex Amarillo | 3.70 | | Golden. A very classy pint I thought. Plenty of hop character. |
Tap East - East End Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried
Tap East - Tonic Ale | 3.00 | Not Tried
Tap East - A.P.A. (American Pale Ale) | 4.30 | Not Tried

Post-shopping trauma, quick pint.

Woodforde's - Nelson's Revenge | 4.50 | Not Tried
Swannay (formerly Highland) - Sneaky Wee Orkney Stout | 4.20 | Not Tried | Apparently the words 'sneaky wee' on the pump clip have been putting some customers off this one. |

14 Sep 2013 (Stephen Harris)
A late visit up to closing time with a bunch of stragglers from the Truman’s launch event that I had offered to show the way on foot across the Olympic Park. Other beers as listed by ChrisE.
Swannay (formerly Highland) - Sneaky Wee Orkney Stout | 4.20 | | A pretty good, black stout. |
