Dropped in at around 10 for a couple before I headed to the airport. Really busy for that time of night, sat up top and listened to some Psychedelic Rock to go with our beers. Fantastic.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Orkney (Sinclair) - Dark Island4.60ExcellentSmoky, oily old ale. Smooth and velvety.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Bock6.00ExcellentFantastic dubbel/bock style beer. Incredibly rich with loads of dark fruit and molasses. Awesome beer but I'd struggle with two.
Sharp's - Doom Bar4.00AcceptableHaven't had this in years, after this it'll probably be another few years. Creamy and very sweet, a little malt in there. For me it's just far, far too sweet.

I had 10 minutes to spare so slipped in for a swift half. It was packed which caught me off guard. Sat with a newspaper and left pretty sharpish.

I didn't finish work until nearly 8 and was desperate for a beer or two. Met a few friends here and relaxed.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Six Hop6.50ExceptionalI'm not sure if this has improved or if it's just because I was really looking forward to a beer but this was sensational.
Vale - Gravitas4.80ExcellentI still expect this to be dark for whatever reason. Very pale and hoppy beer, reminded me a little of Oakham - Bishop's Farewell. Really good.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dark Conspiracy4.90ExcellentThis beer seems to have become a local staple, I'm not complaining.
Mauldons - Suffolk Pride (aka Suffolk Punch)4.80GoodMalt and a little fruit, simple beer but I enjoyed it.

I think I managed to disgust the new barmaid within minutes thanks my descriptions of what we'll be doing to a friend on his stag do. I was actually more drunk than I had a right to be after only 3 pints, this was a bit of a blur.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Hurricane Jack4.40GoodVery pale and very hoppy ale, a little malt and fruit. Better than I expected, pretty nice beer.

Pretty quiet in here tonight. Seemed to be a lot of people drinking ginger beer, not sure I'm a fan of this new fad.
BeerABVScoreNotes

First time in here in many months. There was a bit of an odd change in vibe, 2 guys took offence to me putting my empty glass on the bar. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Original5.00ExcellentRich, dark and satisfying. A classic.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider4.30GoodNot how I remember it. Still a good pint but seemed less hoppy and more buttery.

First time I've been here in over 6 months I think and it was really good to be back. Different faces behind the bar but the same old customers the right side of it.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Oatmeal Stout4.60ExcellentNow this is much more my kind of beer. Thick, rich and satisfying, lots of malt and chocolate.
Acorn - Firecracker4.70ExcellentDark and very malty bitter with lots of rich fruit flavours going on. Took me by surprise, very tasty and very different.
Dark Star - Tripel8.50AcceptableReally not my sort of beer really, I feel bad after seeing all the good reviews but I didn't enjoy it all that much.

Much the same crowd of people that I had seen in the Montefiore earlier in the day. We chatted about the Tomson and Wotton Brewery which used to be at the bottom of the road on the site now occupied by Waitrose. There was a good range of beers on offer, but I was so impressed with the Larkspur that I forgot to make a note of the other beers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Larkspur5.20ExceptionalWow, this was terrific. Full of flavour, and I love the Citra hop.

Busy at the bar as always. I sat up the top and listened to the eclectic music and wondered at all the regimental cap-badges.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Triple fff - Alton's Pride3.80GoodHad to have this seeing as how it's a previous Champion Beer of Britain. Couldn't quite see why it was a previous Champion Beer of Britain. Nice, dry, clean nutty bitter but nought special
