Dropped in at around 10 for a couple before I headed to the airport. Really busy for that time of night, sat up top and listened to some Psychedelic Rock to go with our beers. Fantastic.
Orkney (Sinclair) - Dark Island | 4.60 | | Smoky, oily old ale. Smooth and velvety. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Bock | 6.00 | | Fantastic dubbel/bock style beer. Incredibly rich with loads of dark fruit and molasses. Awesome beer but I'd struggle with two. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | | Haven't had this in years, after this it'll probably be another few years. Creamy and very sweet, a little malt in there. For me it's just far, far too sweet. |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Wold Top - Falling Stone | 4.20 | Not Tried
Whitstable - Kentish Reserve | 5.00 | Not Tried
16 Feb 2011 (Blair)
I had 10 minutes to spare so slipped in for a swift half. It was packed which caught me off guard. Sat with a newspaper and left pretty sharpish.
Hawkshead - Lakeland Gold | 4.40 | | Light and hoppy, not too bad at all. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Hopdaemon - Green Daemon | 5.00 | Not Tried
Vale - Gravitas | 4.80 | Not Tried
13 Feb 2011 (Blair)
I didn't finish work until nearly 8 and was desperate for a beer or two. Met a few friends here and relaxed.
Dark Star - Six Hop | 6.50 | | I'm not sure if this has improved or if it's just because I was really looking forward to a beer but this was sensational. |
Vale - Gravitas | 4.80 | | I still expect this to be dark for whatever reason. Very pale and hoppy beer, reminded me a little of Oakham - Bishop's Farewell. Really good. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dark Conspiracy | 4.90 | | This beer seems to have become a local staple, I'm not complaining. |
Mauldons - Suffolk Pride (aka Suffolk Punch) | 4.80 | | Malt and a little fruit, simple beer but I enjoyed it. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
08 Feb 2011 (Blair)
I think I managed to disgust the new barmaid within minutes thanks my descriptions of what we'll be doing to a friend on his stag do. I was actually more drunk than I had a right to be after only 3 pints, this was a bit of a blur.
Fyne - Hurricane Jack | 4.40 | | Very pale and very hoppy ale, a little malt and fruit. Better than I expected, pretty nice beer. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Loddon - Gravesend Shrimpers Bitter | 4.10 | Not Tried
Cairngorm - Sheepshagger's Gold | 4.50 | Not Tried

Pretty quiet in here tonight. Seemed to be a lot of people drinking ginger beer, not sure I'm a fan of this new fad.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dark Conspiracy | 4.90 | | Just fantastic really. |
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Delicious bitter with strong malt flavours. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Loddon - Gravesend Shrimpers Bitter | 4.10 | Not Tried
Hopdaemon - Green Daemon | 5.00 | Not Tried

First time in here in many months. There was a bit of an odd change in vibe, 2 guys took offence to me putting my empty glass on the bar. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.
Dark Star - Original | 5.00 | | Rich, dark and satisfying. A classic. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30 | | Not how I remember it. Still a good pint but seemed less hoppy and more buttery. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 3 | 5.00 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Loddon - Gravesend Shrimpers Bitter | 4.10 | Not Tried

First time I've been here in over 6 months I think and it was really good to be back. Different faces behind the bar but the same old customers the right side of it.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Oatmeal Stout | 4.60 | | Now this is much more my kind of beer. Thick, rich and satisfying, lots of malt and chocolate. |
Acorn - Firecracker | 4.70 | | Dark and very malty bitter with lots of rich fruit flavours going on. Took me by surprise, very tasty and very different. |
Dark Star - Tripel | 8.50 | | Really not my sort of beer really, I feel bad after seeing all the good reviews but I didn't enjoy it all that much. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried

Much the same crowd of people that I had seen in the Montefiore earlier in the day. We chatted about the Tomson and Wotton Brewery which used to be at the bottom of the road on the site now occupied by Waitrose. There was a good range of beers on offer, but I was so impressed with the Larkspur that I forgot to make a note of the other beers.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Larkspur | 5.20 | | Wow, this was terrific. Full of flavour, and I love the Citra hop. |
20 Aug 2010 (Andrew)
Busy at the bar as always. I sat up the top and listened to the eclectic music and wondered at all the regimental cap-badges.
Triple fff - Alton's Pride | 3.80 | | Had to have this seeing as how it's a previous Champion Beer of Britain. Couldn't quite see why it was a previous Champion Beer of Britain. Nice, dry, clean nutty bitter but nought special |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Elgood's - Pageant Ale | 4.30 | Not Tried
Tring - Jack O Legs | 4.20 | Not Tried
Potbelly - Pigs Do Fly! | 4.40 | Not Tried
19 Jul 2010 (ChrisE)
Just like this pub always is, plenty of people enjoying good beer in a convivial atmosphere.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Kipling | 5.20 | | I rarely mark any beer as exceptional, but this was as good as it gets. |
Crouch Vale - Golden Duck | 3.80 | | A good session golden ale. |
Whitstable - Faversham Creek | 3.80 | Not Tried
Wold Top - Golden Summer | 4.40 | Not Tried
