Only a smattering of people in, some enjoying the chicken padina on offer for Wednesday's curry night. Only stopped for one as I fancied something stoutish.
Vale - Artful Bodger | 4.10 | | Dark, full-bodied bitter with a tasty chocolate malty flavour. Very quaffable but couldn't help thinking a little more oomph to it would make it a special beer. |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Crouch Vale - Amarillo | 5.00 | Not Tried
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | Not Tried
Wantsum - Turbulent Priest | 4.40 | Not Tried
Cheddar - Bitter Bully | 3.80 | Not Tried | Went off as I ordered it. |
24 Mar 2012 (Blair)
Glorious day outside so dropped in to hide from the sun. Quite busy for half one in the afternoon. Whiled away a few hours listening to Soundgarden and Black Sabbath on the jukebox, perfect.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Oatmeal Stout | 4.60 | | Beautiful, rich and oaty stout. |
Dark Star - Rye & Juniper | 5.20 | | Very bitter and pretty refreshing, really good beer. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - 80/- | 4.60 | | Really good if a tad sweet for me. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
17 Mar 2012 (Blair)
The afternoon drinking session seems to have become a weekly thing now. Only two other hardened drinkers in at 2pm. Shame as it was a cracking line-up.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Oatmeal Stout | 4.60 | | I love this stout. |
Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Big Black Blue Sound | 5.30 | | Kelham's take on a black IPA. Quite tasty, lacked a little condition but the taste was really good. |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Cairngorm - Trade Winds | 4.30 | Not Tried
10 Mar 2012 (Blair)
Had a car crash into the front of it last week leaving a fair bit of dame. Pub was still open as usual with the same faces inside.
Wantsum - Yellow Tail | 4.50 | | Very light, hoppy and refreshing. May be my favourite wantsum beer so far. |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried
12 Jan 2012 (Blair)
Thursdays are like my Fridays these days and I decided to celebrate it here. Really quiet with only 3 or 4 people in which was strange.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Oatmeal Stout | 4.60 | | Gorgeous, perfect condition. |
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | This wasn't good. Condition was fine but it was overpoweringly sweet, neither me or my mate could finish our pints. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30 | Not Tried
Hop Monster (Georges) - Rochford Banshee | 4.40 | Not Tried
08 Jan 2012 (Blair)
Had tried the Rose of England but apparently it's closed on Sundays, so dropped in here instead. Around 9pm when we got here and there was a good number of people in.
Hop Monster (Georges) - Rochford Banshee | 4.40 | | Very sweet, but once I got over that it was actually a really nice beer. Black in colour with a smoky/fruity flavour. Good stuff, just wish they'd tone down the sugar. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | Not Tried
Wantsum - Turbulent Priest | 4.40 | Not Tried
08 Dec 2011 (Blair)
It's been a long old time since me and my friends have had a session in the arty, feels good to be back.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Little Cracker | 5.00 | | Lovely beer. Tastes different to when I had it last a couple of years back. |
Crouch Vale - Christmas Pale | 4.20 | | Very nice pale ale, typical Crouch Vale kinda flavour. |
Buntingford - Imperial Black Ale | 5.80 | | Tasty beer, would be fantastic if the sweetness was toned down a little. Still it's a nice hoppy black beer. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
20 Nov 2011 (Blair)
Another post work drink. Really busy for 11pm on a Sunday and thankfully none of the roughians that have been frequenting this pub as of late.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30
Burton Bridge - Old Expensive | 6.50 | | Sweet, slightly syrupy strong ale. Almost barley wine in flavour, quite nice. |

Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | Not Tried

05 Nov 2011 (Blair)
I had just been drinking the Dark Star IPA at work so everything else seemed a bit mundane. Really busy to start with before quieting down at around 9.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Rye Pale Ale | 4.00 | | Seemed sweeter than normal, still good though. |
Rudgate - Marston Moor Brewers Droop | 5.00 | | Weird, but drinkable enough. I noticed I said I wouldn't drink it again 2 and a half years ago, must be slightly better now then. |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Whitstable - Pearl of Kent | 4.50 | Not Tried
Triple fff - Old Dray | 4.80 | Not Tried
