Busier than Churchill's. Alistair was in. Sat up top, stuck on some Led Zep and had a couple of pints. Perfect.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Original5.00ExcellentA fantastic beer. Thick, rich and satisfying. Chocolate and roasted malt dominate.
Whitstable - Winkle Picker4.50GoodI've never been a fan of The Whitstable Brewery but I was impressed with this. Vibrant fruity bitter with a little malt. Really drinkable.

Got here around midnight, I was expecting it to be closed but it was actually heaving. The complete opposite to Churchill's. Sat up top and soaked up the atmosphere.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)4.70ExcellentPale, sweet and very hoppy. A really pleasant beer.
Oakleaf (now see Fallen Acorn entries) - I Can't Believe It's Not Bitter4.20ExcellentI actually really enjoyed this. Tasted more like a bitter than a lager but with a bit of a lager hint. Light zingy and refreshing.
Sharp's - Doom Bar4.00Not Tried

Really busy, which is great to see on a sunday evening. Ross behind the bar was telling me all the beers they've got lined up. I think this will be a good week to pay it a couple of vsits.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Stonehenge - Old Smokey5.00ExcellentI haven't been that impressed with any of Stonehenges beers before so I wasn't expecting much of this. However, this beer is actually fantastic. Fruity with lots of roasted malt and obviously a little smokiness.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExcellentSweet and hoppy with a nice toffee flavour. One of my original favourite ales.

Wandered here after a couple on Churchill's. It was really busy in tonight Alistair was here as well as Gray the Dray. The new landlord seems to have breathed new life into this pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Loddon - Ferryman's Gold4.40ExcellentI didn't expect much from this one for whatever reason but it was really good. Rich, fruity and very refreshing.
Freeminer - Slaughter Porter4.80ExcellentVery good stout, although it tasted very much of wholemeal bread which was strange at first.

Last pub on visit to Ramsgate and Andrew made us make lists of stuff. Nicer now the pub has been re-decorated a bit. Martin and myself then went to Waitrose and had a very funny moment with the woman behind the deli counter. Great beer choice in there as well
BeerABVScoreNotes
Abbeydale - Absolution5.30ExcellentBrilliantly hoppy ESB, lovely and tasty
Fyne - Vital Spark4.40GoodSurprisinly hoppy for a dark beer
Country Life - Black Boar5.00AcceptableVery dark brown/black beer. Choccy flavours and even a bit sour

A handful of folk in but very friendly they were. We sat up top and wrote lists of favourite beers and pubs - as you do when you've had a few and don't care you've turned into a beer geek..
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Vital Spark4.40ExcellentFruity black beer with citrus hops
Country Life - Black Boar5.00ExcellentBlack beer, longingly rich and roasted (according to my rather illegible notes)

Only a few people in. Looks like the refurb is complete now. Alistair was telling us about Steampunks, makes sense if you know him.

Once again very busy, a really good sign for this pub especially with Churchill's having a band on just round the corner. Saying that, a couple of people in here watned us that the band at churchill's were a bit rubbish.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Espresso Stout4.20ExcellentThis is just like getting a nice stout and doing a depth charge with espresso. Really odd but strangely satisfying. The coffee does get a little intense towards the end, I wouldn't want more than a pint.

Couldn't resist coming back after how good friday night was. Not as busy tonight but still a fair few people in. I don't remember leaving so it must have been a good night.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Leviathan6.00ExcellentActually tasted better than the night before. Rich and fruity with lots of chocolate. Beautiful beer.
Wolf - Granny Wouldn't Like It !!!4.80ExcellentI was really impressed with this. A traditional bitter flavour, very well rounded. Quite malty and nutty with a bit of citrus and caramel. Yup, it's good.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - 80/-4.60ExcellentEqually good as before.
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExcellentBest pint of this I've ever had, hands down. Smooth and very malty with a delicate hoppy flavour to it. Almsot 5/5.

I have never seen this place so busy, it was literally shoulder to shoulder. The new landlord Smudge had put on a big buffet downstairs as well. Great night with a fantastic beer lineup.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Leviathan6.00ExcellentDefinately not a sgood as it was last year, a little thin in the motuh and not a sstrong flavoured. Still a great beer though. Very fruity with a lot of chocolate as well.
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur5.90ExcellentThis beer is starting to grow on me, the sheer aggression of the hops takes me by surprise each time.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - 80/-4.60ExcellentExtremely malty as you'd expect froma scottish heavy, also very smooth. A pleasure to drink.
Nethergate (was Nethergate Growler for a while then name reverted) - Old Growler5.00GoodDark tasty beer with a lot of roasted malt and a little chocolate. There was something missing though and I couldn't figure out what it was.
