This has won the local branch pub of the year and rightly so. Good beer, good music, good atmosphere and helpful and friendly staff.

Usual mix of people in at around 18.30. I sat and read Channel Draught from the Dover Deal and Sandwich Camra branch.

I got here early evening and there was a smattering of people in. Same beer line up as the last time I was in. I sat and read the Big Issue, which was pretty good.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Westerham - Summer Perle3.80ExceptionalIs this my favourite beer brewed in Kent at the moment? Yes, I think it probably is. Light, golden, hoppy, sherberty, stinging, drinkable, great condition, full in the mouth and full of flavour. The hops are stunning. Fresh, sherberty, grapefruity but still balanced with the rest of the beer.

It was genuinely difficult to decide what to have. I wanted a Gadd's No 5, but then I saw the Westerham Summer Perle which is excellent, but Storm Warning is so rare I had to have it.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Storm Warning5.00ExcellentLike many of the beers here, I think this could be overly vented and oxidised. I realise that now thanks to MagicDave6 from Ratebeer who now runs a 'Spoons in North London. A deliciously dark beer. Good earthy hop and rich rich malt.

Well I had just had to fork out over £150 for repairs to my bike, so I thought "What the hell?" and popped into here for a couple. Ended up standing at the bar talking to Arthur about beer.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 54.40ExcellentOne of the best best bitters in the country.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - DogBolter Dark Porter5.60GoodLots of flavour, good fruit, bit of sourness, but just lacked a bit of condition. The lines were cleaned soon after I had my pint.

10th Easter beer festival anniversary. Stillage in the rear basement room carries a dozen or so beers and some ciders. Excellent to pop in for a taste of a good range of beers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Haba Beer O4.10AcceptableGold colour with lasting thin head. Chili and hop aroma. Quite subtle for a chili beer. It’s still silly, burns the mouth, ruins the tastebuds, but isn’t ridiculous. I’m guessing this is a blend of Golden Braid and Skrimshander with some chilis added. Good condition. I’m not a fan of chili beers, but this one was quite pleasant.
Wickwar - Long John Silver4.20AcceptableChestnut colour with thin dark beige head. Some dry malt on aroma. Decent dark/red fruits in mouth. OK condition. Fruity best bitter with decent malts. Drinkable.
Ringwood - 784.20AcceptableCopper colour with lasting beige head. Soft bitter. Slightly creamy. Bit of farty yeast. As I say, soft in mouth. Some hop. It’s fine, good defined flavours, just not hugely exciting.
Batemans - Eggs B4.20AcceptableCopper colour with thin beige head. Slightly boiled sweet flavour. Very toasty malts, as you associate with the darker Bateman’s beers. Decent condition. Bit of fruit. Some odd, almost pasteurised boiled sweet. Some dryness on finish. Good toasty malt throughout.

Relaxed basement bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Storm Warning5.00ExceptionalDeep ruby, lasting dark beige head. Cracking condition. Amazingly complex malt with earthy hoppy finish. Rich malts are both juicy and dry. Christmas cake flavours and an almost sherry like quality. Earthy dry hoppiness on finsh balances the malt perfectly. Superb

Left work early, popped in for one before meeting up with Andrew and Martin for the Wye crawl.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Little Cracker5.00GoodRuby/deep copper colour with lasting beige head. Rich malty aroma with earthy hops. Good condition in mouth, malt is a little syrupy, then soft earthy hops kick in . Bit of a sipper this one. Decent winter warmer. Fruits are juicy and the hop finish grows on you. Got better as the pint went down.

Friday evening early. Not too many people in, but just right for a quiet drink.
BeerABVScoreNotes
