Evening visit. Service seemed somewhat disorganised and still rather corporate but a better range of ales that I have seen here before.
Hogs Back - Surrey Nirvana | 4.00 | | Rather thin but a first refreshing pint |
Koomor - Trunk | 3.80 | | First time I have had this on handpump, quite creamy |

Koomor - Trunk | 3.80 | | Malty yet bitter with hints of toffee for this complex tastebuds treat |
Portobello - Platinum Pale Ale | 4.30 | | Dry and thin ale that packed a hoppy spicy kick |

Portobello - Lovely Jubbly | 4.50 | Not Tried
20 Sep 2021 (Magnus Greel)
A eureka moment as I remembered this pub on the way to the bus stop for The Long Pond. Late afternoon in this underrated proper drinkers pub, quiet relaxed atmosphere to enjoy one's pint.

24 Nov 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit until 11pm close. Never really taken by this place - a corporate feel to service with what seems to be a pubco type ale range. Where is something from the several hundred London, Kent and Sussex breweries, except for the heavily marketed Truman's?
Harvey's - Old Ale (or Sussex XXXX Old Ale) | 4.30 | | The fobbing on initial pump pulls and the metallic taste imply this had been in the pipes a while |
Skinner's - Betty Stogs Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried
Loddon - Hullabaloo | 4.20 | Not Tried
Exmoor - Ale | 3.80 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Young's London Special (was Special) | 4.50 | Not Tried | Clip shows Mr Nisbet as Young's brewmaster when it will be a Marston's one. They jest or deceive! |
Flack Manor - Flack's Double Drop | 3.70 | Not Tried
Upham - Punter | 4.00 | Not Tried
Truman's - Firestarter | 4.20 | Not Tried
13 Aug 2016 (Magnus Greel)
Cycled past here many times on my Chopper in the 70's. Now I'm old enough to drink here I have. Relaxed and fairly quiet mid evening atmosphere.
West Berkshire - Screaming Eagle | 4.60 | | Hop flavour dominates with notes of citrus, spice and pine. |
Wadworth - Espirito De Carnaval | 4.30 | | Spicy and peppery with a hoppy bitter finish. |
Hogs Back - T.E.A. | 4.20 | Not Tried
Skinner's - Betty Stogs Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried

Otter - Amber | 4.00 | | |
22 Mar 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Brief visit. Most pleasant bar staff. Wonder if beer range will be shaken up by the opening ot the Eltham GPO pub opposite.
By The Horns - Stiff Upper Lip | 3.80
Exmoor - Gold | 4.50 | Not Tried
Hepworth - Pullman First Class Ale | 4.20 | Not Tried

Adnams - Lighthouse | 3.40 | Not Tried
13 Jul 2009 (Dubbel)
After a manic rush from work to reach Argos before it closed, the OH and I decided to chill out with a pint in the evening sun. This really is a lovely smart town centre boozer and feels like you could be a million miles away.
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Awesome. They serve a consistently great pint of Landlord in here. The best I've had anywhere. |
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
St Austell - Tribute | 4.20 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Young's London Original (was Bitter) | 3.70 | Not Tried
13 Apr 2009 (Dubbel)
Hiked along the Green Chain Walk to Eltham Palace. Seemed only right to stop in here for a pint before strolling back home. Sat out front on the wall in the evening sunshine. Must have been a busy bank holiday for them as sadly the TT Landlord, Harveys and Leffe had all run dry.
Brains - The Rev James Original | 4.50 | | I used to really rate this beer, not quite so much nowadays. Mahogany, cool and refreshing with a Burtonesque malty tail - but I was really craving some ballsy hops. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Young's London Original (was Bitter) | 3.70 | Not Tried
Black Sheep - Best Bitter | 3.80 | Not Tried
