Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

RayExcellent09 Feb 2014 Full flavoured APA in top condition.
McGargleGood28 Sep 2013 Against the sharp focus of the BBF and Buxton beers this seemed a bit muddled. Normally a 4* beer I wonder if that's because we're usually starved of top comparisons and tend to over-rate?

MacGregor's, Inverness, Inverness-shire

WhoScoreWhenNotes
DosserExcellent08 Oct 2020 £4.20 A pint. But I could have had a flight of thirds of craft for £6.50. Wetherspoons seems to be the only cheaper in Scottyland.

Tap East, Stratford, Greater London

WhoScoreWhenNotes
Stephen HarrisExcellent27 Oct 2019 A pale golden, US-style Pale Ale. Tropical fruit and citrus flavours from the hops.

McGargleAcceptable31 Jan 2019 Surprisingly, served cool.
McGarglePoor29 Nov 2018 Cooler than usual. Still lacking condition, still 2*.
McGarglePoor01 Nov 2018 Warm and flat.
McGargleExcellent18 Mar 2017 On hand pump. Fresh and juicy.
McGarglePoor27 Oct 2016 Ideal for Halloween. Plenty of toffee, some wrapping paper. Maybe 2.5*.
McGargleGood17 Mar 2016 Less rounded and very slightly harsh.
McGargleExcellent16 Mar 2016 Smooth, hoppy and fresh.
McGargleNot Tried12 Mar 2015 Came on too late to save the day.
McGarglePoor19 Feb 2015 Maybe 2*. Let's not waffle. 2* it is. Mish mash of malt, hops and cardboard. Knowing Cromarty I strongly suspect this is not a brewing problem.
McGargleGood20 Feb 2014
McGargleGood13 Feb 2014
McGargleGood13 Jun 2013 Cool and refreshing after a South Indian curry.
McGargleGood30 May 2013 Clean and refreshing it could do with a slightly bolder hop profile.
McGargleGood11 Apr 2013 Beer of the evening but a little sweeter and less hoppy than previous examples.
McGargleExcellent07 Feb 2013 Beer of the evening. Light and hoppy. Bitter and moreish.
McGargleAcceptable27 Sep 2012 Much better than the Raven but lacking in body and flavour. Served a little early I suspect.
RayPoor11 Jul 2012 End of cask. Tired, yeasty and almost stale.
RayExcellent11 Jul 2012 New cask. New World style pale ale with solid mats and subtle hopping. Served through and air font cooler than CAMRA would approve of but a chill helps this beer style.

McGargleGood22 Jan 2015 'Thick' mouth feel. Ageing?
McGargleAcceptable06 Dec 2014 Surprisingly malty - limited hopping. Unusual for Cromarty.
McGargleGood30 Dec 2013 Were my taste buds jaded or was this less hop forward?
McGargleGood02 Aug 2012 Modern pale ale in the West Coast style. Could do with a bit more body and more distinctive hop profile.
