Quiet, welcoming

Lunchtime meeting for our cycle group. 10 of us for nearly 3 hours got the place buzzing.

Evening, just back from Down Under. Needed some real ale. Very jolly in here tonight for a Tuesday night - bit of a party atmosphere. 6 ales on, just noted the three pumps that I could get to!

Early evening, just after opening. Filling up nicely as I left.

Sunday lunchtime. I was first in at noon, seven of my cycling group joined me within an hour and we had a most enjoyable session in the garden. 7 ales on, Guinness at £5 a pint. Everyone happy.

5:30 opening. A good few regulars and visitors in the first hour. New barman I think, very attentive making sure of full pints.

3rd visit of the outing: Perhaps the most unlikely of frontages for this old-fashioned pub as a former backstreet terraced house! A walkabout inside revealed a long conservatory at its rear, leading into a sizeable garden that many a Victorian terraced-house would have been without. As recently as 2022 it was local CAMRA Pub of the Year having been that for two years on the trot from 2017. Certainly an impressive array of real ales and on my visit no less than 7 on. Warm and friendly service from the barmaid for our early afternoon visit and very reasonably priced for my half.

Early evening. Dry ride there, wet ride back. Appropriate. A few locals in, Guv Katrina regaling us with stories of her flooded cellar yesterday. Hasn’t affected the beer quality.

Early Friday evening visit. Had a good chat with a couple of campers from Sevenoaks who were well into micropubs. Then a conversed with another couple who live within 1/2 mile of me. Busy outside with younger folk. I love the way that this pub’s clientele ebbs and flows. 7 ales on - the blackboard doesn’t give brewery info - I must take pics of the pump clips in future.

Early Friday evening - the place was buzzing - drinkers in all areas including the garden. Had a good chat with the husband of a local CAMRA official, he was drinking lager!
