Late lunchtime just before 3pm closing. A good few in here today for a weekday lunchtime. Missed Chris - same beers as he listed. Just had to try the Prohibition X.
| Kent - Prohibition X | 6.80 | | Good … pushing excellent. Slightly on the sweet side but very moorish. |

27 Nov 2025 (Jack William)
Lunchtime meeting for our cycle group. 10 of us for nearly 3 hours got the place buzzing.
| Lakedown - Firefall | 4.80 | | By far the most popular ale for the group. Very drinkable red ale belying its strength. |
| Tonbridge - Blonde Ambition | 4.20 | | |
| Wylam - Gold | 4.00 | | Nothing wrong with this - but very bland. |
| Downlands (formerly South Downs) - Best | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Kent - Aztec | 4.90 | Not Tried | I won’t mark this as it was a freebie 1/3 at the very end of the barrel - but I had to turn it down. |

26 Jul 2025 (Hogan Sampling)
3rd visit of the outing: Perhaps the most unlikely of frontages for this old-fashioned pub as a former backstreet terraced house! A walkabout inside revealed a long conservatory at its rear, leading into a sizeable garden that many a Victorian terraced-house would have been without. As recently as 2022 it was local CAMRA Pub of the Year having been that for two years on the trot from 2017. Certainly an impressive array of real ales and on my visit no less than 7 on. Warm and friendly service from the barmaid for our early afternoon visit and very reasonably priced for my half.
| Wantsum - UXB? | 4.60 | | Following the theme of fruitiness after the peach-infused pale ale at our last stop, this St Nicholas-at-Wade, from just outside Birchington-on-Sea, porter was a perfect carry-on! Head and lacing, very good, and lasting, good. Its creamy head led to a dry bitter and raspberry-infused first bite. Its bitterness rising up among its fruity hoppiness with a touch of chocolate in on the mix. Very moreish and not too overly tasting of raspberries! Very reasonably priced at £4.30. |
| Skinner's (now brewed by Goodh) - Betty Stogs Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Oakham - Citra | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
| Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - Tropical Deluxe | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Wantsum - Overlord | 6.00 | Not Tried | |
| Big Trip - Where were you when we were getting high | 3.90 | Not Tried | |
| Kent - Smash - summer pale | 4.30 | Not Tried | |
22 Jul 2025 (Jack William)
Early evening. Dry ride there, wet ride back. Appropriate.
A few locals in, Guv Katrina regaling us with stories of her flooded cellar yesterday. Hasn’t affected the beer quality.
| Kent - The Quiet American | 4.20 | | Superb. |
| Neptune - Ezili | 4.00 | | A fine pale ale. |
| Acorn - Barnsley Bitter | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
| Mallinsons - Nectaron | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Wiper and True - Heading Home | 3.70 | Not Tried | Mild |
