09 Oct 2012 (Stephen Harris)
A reduced beer range tonight to reflect the low attendance expectation for a cup game against Barnet.
Mighty Oak - Oak Nouveau 2012 | 3.60 | | 2012 version of Mighty Oak’s green hop beer. Light gold in colour and quite smooth. Brewed using hops from a pub garden in castle Hedingham. |

Happy days have returned to Brisbane Road (for now) and it is all smiles in here after the match until closing time. I did not write down the names of a couple of the beers that passed through quickly.
Mighty Oak - Tiddly Om Prom Prom | 4.30 | | A traditional bitter in appearance and basic taste, but enhanced by some really good hops. |

13 Sep 2012 (Stephen Harris)
The football club has a very rare Thursday night fixture. It does not prove popular and there is a very small attendance – reflected in a rather reduced beer range here. I call in after the match and stay to closing.
Mighty Oak - Maldon Gold | 3.80 | | Always a wise choice on any bar. |
Reedley Hallows - Monkholme Premium | 4.20 | | A sweetish, malty, golden-coloured bitter. Some fruitiness from the hops. |
Mighty Oak - Bee'r Constrictor | 4.00 | | An amber-coloured beer with a strong honey flavour and a bitter hop finish. |
Joseph Holt (see also Holt's) - IPA | 3.80 | | A rather feeble interpretation of an IPA – really a routine pale ale, slightly enlivened by the use of Styrian Goldings. |

Reedley Hallows - Filly Close Blonde | 3.90 | | Golden ale with blackcurrant fruity hop flavours. |

The now-expected, large assembly of spectators here for the televised England v Italy game. Torture to watch, to be honest. But great to see such a good line-up of mostly locally-brewed beers. Live music to listen to on the outside terrace courtesy of Radio 1 and their Hackney event taking place just a few hundred yards away.
Hackney - Golden Ale | 4.00 | | More golden-coloured hoppiness. |
East London (ELB) - Jamboree | 4.80 | | Golden and hoppy. |
London Fields - Pale Ale | 3.70 | | Beer formerly named Session Ale. Golden, full-bodied and hoppy. |

Word has certainly got around that this is a good place to watch the European Championship football, and there is another big crowd in tonight.
East London (ELB) - Nightwatchman | 4.50 | | Fast becomming my beer of choice. |
Hackney - Best Bitter | 4.40 | | The first beer has arrived from the long-trailed new Hackney Brewery. This is a good, brown, full-bodied, traditional bitter – and was selling very well. |
