11 Jun 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Like half of London, I left work early and managed to get here just 25 minutes into the England v France game. A good crowd of members were in to watch the TV football – 80+, which makes opening worthwhile.
Mighty Oak - Oscar Wilde Mild | 3.70 | | Reliably excellent dark mild. |
Mighty Oak - Mer May'd | 4.00 | | This May seasonal beer has matured very nicely in the cellar, the second firkin being even nicer than the first. |
Mighty Oak - Dream Catcher | 4.10 | | Very good condition meant I got a little more out of this beer than I did when I tried it a couple of days ago. A very competent, traditional bitter. |
05 May 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Final post-match beers of what has been a dreadful season for the O’s. Predictably packed in here though.
Mighty Oak - Maldon Gold | 3.80 | | Consistently good, golden, hoppy beer. |
Mighty Oak - Oscar Wilde Mild | 3.70 | | “Like Chocolate Nesquick” said a friend – I have a better opinion of this beer than that. |
Summer Wine (SWB) - Gambit | 4.20 | | Un-fined, hazy, slightly yeasty, hoppy, pale beer. |
Rudgate - Battle Axe | 4.20 | Not Tried

Slater's - Top Totty | 4.00 | Not Tried

Post-match visit. Busy, as always. I’m afraid that I did not make a note of all the available beers.

A very good crowd in for the popular, annual Dark Star Night. Almost everything is drunk dry by the evening’s end.
Dark Star - Six Hop | 6.50 | | Stunningly good hop feast. |
Dark Star - Golden Gate | 4.50 | | Amber coloured, malty ale, balanced by some good English hops. |
Dark Star - Rye & Juniper | 5.20 | | I was expecting this to have twigs and berries and stuff floating around in it. In fact it is a fairly conventional bitter with quite subtle flavouring. |

My teenage football hero was the late, and truly great, Laurie Cunningham. So it was nice to meet his brother and niece in here tonight. About the only bright point in fact to relieve the air of doom and gloom that has descended over our great football club in recent months.
East London (ELB) - Pale Ale | 4.00 | | You have to remind yourself that this brewery is only 6 months old, so much a part of the local beer scene have they become. This is a little darker than you might expect for a ‘pale’, with lots of malt flavours and a hoppy finish. |
RedWillow - Fathomless | 5.20 | | A very full flavoured, black, oyster stout. Some said it had a whiff of the sea, but I could not detect it. |
Mighty Oak - Total Recoil | 3.70 | | A hoppy, amber-coloured, session bitter. |
Mighty Oak - Whuppity Scorie | 4.20 | | A typical, pale and hoppy Mighty Oak beer. |

I was a bit late in here after today’s match, with many of the beers having run out – still a pretty good selection though.

Mighty Oak - Slither Hither | 3.90 | | Classic Mighty Oak – very pale and very hoppy. |
Mighty Oak - Total Recoil | 3.70 | | Amber and hoppy. |

The O’s finally have their first home win of 2012 and all is happy in here. Happy that is until the shocking scenes from White Hart lane start to unfold on the TV screens.
Mighty Oak - Snake Out Stout | 4.00 | | Black, with a full-on stout flavour. Relatively low strength for the style. |
Mighty Oak - Oscar Wilde Mild | 3.70 | | As good as ever. |

Yet more drowning of sorrows after another poor team performance, this time against Walsall FC. Some beers are left-over from the recent beer festival, plus a good number of new ones, for a very busy session.
Liverpool Organic - Josephine Butler | 4.50 | | An elderflower ale that really works. Good malt base with relatively subtle, flowery flavour. |
RedWillow - Endless | 3.80 | | The pump clip states that this is “Yet another pale, hoppy beer”. They are not lying. |
Treboom - Kettle Drum | 4.30 | | An amber-coloured, hoppy, best bitter. |

01 Mar 2012 (Stephen Harris)
The first night of a two day beer festival. These spring festivals have become something of an institution, and there is a very good crowd present, gathered from far and wide. This is not quite a complete beer list, I failed to note them all.
Black Iris - Bitter | 4.30 | | Tasty, hoppy, best bitter. |

Ripple Steam - Original Best Bitter | 4.10 | | Decent, malty, best bitter. |
Cullercoats - Lovely Nelly | 3.90 | | Very lively barrel. Amber-coloured, well-balanced bitter. |
Arkwright's - Inspired | 4.10
Ripple Steam - Winter Ale | 5.00 | | Amber in colour, this beer is spiced (cinnamon and cloves?), but not excessively so. Warming – maybe ginger too? |

18 Feb 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Very busy after the match and casks were being rapidly emptied. But this was not the infamous Binge Drinking, more like Whinge Drinking after yet another inglorious home defeat for the O’s.

Dent - Dent Porter | 3.80 | | Dark, smooth, rich and full-bodied. |
