A couple of folk in. Sat and listened to a story from Martyn about some silly fool who came in and tried to tell him how to run a pub. Silly fool.
Georges - Broadsword | 4.70 | | A good brown bitter that doesn't drink like a 4.7% beer at all. Be interesting to do a session on it but at that strength, maybe not. |

Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 4.70 | Not Tried

Just passing so had to call in, very busy although only been open 15 minutes. Super selection on tap, shame I could only have one.
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Silver Top | 4.50 | | Superb black beer, roasted notes, malt and caramel with a balancing sharpness. I could drink this all night. |

Typical Butchers evening, much banter and Tabbing.
Dark Star - Carafa Jade | 5.00 | | Not had this before, superb. The intensity of the hops has to tried to believe it, not the usual citrus but a raw green hop edge. Wonderful. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - ESB | 5.50 | Not Tried
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - Gale's HSB | 4.80 | Not Tried

Glorious weather so a visit to the Butchers was in order. Very warm walk through the golf course so we were all pretty thirsty. Obviously the heat got to us and that's what I'll blame for us being unreasonably drunk after only 4 pints.... One of my group claims to have lost his sight due to the chilli sauce, likely story.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - ESB | 5.50 | | This pint was the beginning of the end, was lovely though. |
Dark Star - Carafa Jade | 5.00 | | Beautiful hoppy ale with a bit of jaffa cake to it. |
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Gold Top | 4.30 | | Wasn't blown away by this one, shame as every other beer from this brewery has been fantastic. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried
Adnams - Broadside | 4.70 | Not Tried
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried

Usual Butchers atmosphere, slightly weird with Gavin at the helm and Martyn in as a customer.
Kent - Black Gold | 4.00 | | Nice, my type of beer, rich roast and liqurice, reminiscent of Over the Moon> |
Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 4.70 | Not Tried
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | Not Tried

Arrived at 8 and apart from Gavin, "behind the bar", it was empty. After Glyn arrived (thanks for the pint Glyn) it started to get busier. Talk was around stories of Martyn's glorious ascent to becoming a God amongst landlords, Goacher's (I do worship him) and his recent visit, a Butcher's trip to Edinburgh, and the best pub conversation I've heard for ages that went along the lines of, "So if nuns live in a nunnery, why don't monks live in monkeries. Umm (came the answer), because they don't fly?". I love the Butcher's!
Larkins - Porter | 5.20 | | Ha ha ha ha ha. This is THE best porter in THE best pub. |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Okay a 5 out of 5 for Hop Head at the Butcher's. ...but this was actually better than 5/5. This was so good (as, frankly, it usually is here) that it makes a mockery out of any scale. Just mind blowingly good. |
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Blue Top | 4.80 | | The condition on this was superb. Great beer. Well constructed and complete in terms of it's body. Very drinkable. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - ESB | 5.50 | Not Tried | Give 'em the wink to get a pint! |
Dark Star - Over The Moon | 3.80 | Not Tried
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - Gale's HSB | 4.80 | Not Tried

21 May 2011 (Mick)
Two regulars in when we arrived, a good evening with much banter.
Larkins - Traditional | 3.40 | | Smooth, excellent balance of malt and hops, hard to believe it's only 3.4%, Very drinkable. |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Reliable beer from a reliable brewery, served in top condition, hoppy with good citrus notes. |
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Prince's Ale | 4.00 | | A pale hoppy beer, like hophead but a bit more rounded and smooth. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - ESB | 5.50 | Not Tried
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Copper Top | 4.10 | Not Tried
