So the pub was scheduled to be closed for a fortnight from January 1st but local Nick has stepped in to open it a few times. I got word that it would open tonight and duly made my pilgrimage. 8 locals in the first two hours, eclectic conversation as usual. Next opening is Sunday lunchtime (14th Jan) and then back to regular hours from Tuesday 16th.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Long Man - Best Bitter4.00Good
Romney Marsh - Marsh Gold4.10AcceptableNot really at its best - possibly suffering from the intermittent opening hours at present.

Early evening. Lots of locals in. Good time, although sad to report that the pub will be closed for a fortnight from January 1 due to illness of Colin, Rachael’s octogenarian dad and relief barman. I hope that this wonderful, family run business can weather the latest challenge.

Pub open especially at noon today for my cycle group; “bus pass” group also invited - despite no nearby suitable bus service. Worst day of weather for weeks so I was apprehensive that it would be a low turnout. Both groups turned up in good numbers, and with a couple of locals we had a pub full of 20+ people. Very lIvely session. The pub’s annual beer festival starts tomorrow with 1pm opening for three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
