June book club meet. A regular face asked me if I was Jack from the Pubs and Beer site, and what a good site it is. So come on Pete - sign up and start contributing, it’s fun and free and great to look back on your old entries and see your own map of pubs visited.

Early evening - book club. Pub was thriving with locals, book club irregulars, a couple of other cyclists and a family of 3 Ukrainians who are being housed by one of the regulars. A couple of dogs milling around also - I love this place. Romney Marsh Sunset also on at 4.8% - very good dark ale.
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Olicana | 4.00 | | |
03 May 2022 (Jack William)
Early doors. Cold but a brief sunny spell so we sat outside and pondered the low level of the pond due to the recent lack of rainfall.
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | |
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Olicana | 4.00 | | Very pleasant oatmeal pale. |
28 Mar 2022 (Jack William)
Early doors (15 mins after 1700 opening) - I was ready for a pint after a 20 mile ride - Colin was not ready to serve though - coal fire needing to be revived from last night.
Very good pint, and half a dozen regulars in by the time I left at 1800.
| Hopdaemon - Session Ale | 3.80 | | Superb pint for a 3.8. Getting good reviews all round. |
| Kent - Black Gold | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
20 Feb 2022 (Jack William)
My first Sunday afternoon visit to this pub. Jolly crowd of locals that waxed and waned over a couple of hours.
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale | 3.90 | | Full bodied Amber ale in good nick. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | Rather bland. One of Gadd’s weakest, a while since I had this. Underwhelmed. |
01 Feb 2022 (Jack William)
Early evening - good group of regulars in.
| Kent - KGB or Kent Golding Bitter | 4.10 | | A superb pint. |
| Romney Marsh - American Pale Ale | 5.00 | | |
12 Jan 2022 (Jack William)
Book club evening. Jolly collection of regulars. Roaring coal fire. I finished the evening with a can of Gadd’s no. 11 (1.2%). A lot of discussion about whether anyone could drink 11 pints of this in a session, and if they did would they be drunk?
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Seasider | 4.30 | | |
| Romney Marsh - Best Bitter | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
04 Jan 2022 (Jack William)
Early evening - I had arranged to meet Colin, the semi-retired landlord for some more background information about the pub. I’m attempting to write a pub history of this little gem. Good chat about old “characters” - most of it unpublishable! A few regulars in.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | | |
| Kent - Pale | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
15 Dec 2021 (Jack William)
December book club - nibbles and good conversation as always here.
| Kent - Black Gold | 4.00 | | Went surprisingly well with the blue cheese. |
| Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | Not Tried | |
23 Oct 2021 (Jack William)
Early Saturday evening - I joined a horseshoe of regulars around the bar and open fire for talk about films, skittles and unblocking village drains. Excellent.
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Kentish Best | 3.70 | | Canterbury Ales have improved considerably in recent months in my view. |
| Kent - Black Gold | 4.00 | | |
