This pub has changed hands again after another temporary closure. This former Enterprise Inns pub is now a genuine Free House. My visit was on a quiet Monday lunchtime so I was able to enjoy a good chat with the landlord (who has been here for about a fortnight), and the other customer. I did not eat here but the sandwiches and hot dogs appeared to be good value.
A supply of Wantsum beers was expected to be delivered later in the day.
St Austell - Tinner's Ale | 3.70 | | A session beer, deep amber in colour, malty, nutty flavour. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried | This ran out whilst my pint was being poured. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells Bombardier (now superseded by 4.1% version) | 4.30 | Not Tried

What a scorcher. Sat out the back and roasted. The pub was quite busy inside which was good to see; as were the 2 Wantsum beers that were on.
Wantsum - More's Head (previously 3.4% & 3.5%) | 3.70 | | Cloudy with bits floating in it but even still it was a tasty pint. It's has quite a rough, unsophisticated hop that I'm getting to like the taste of. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
St Austell - Tinner's Ale | 3.70 | Not Tried
Eagle (formerly Wells & Young's, formerly Charles Wells, formerly Wells) - Wells Bombardier (now superseded by 4.1% version) | 4.30 | Not Tried

The pub has changed hands so it was interesting to see what beers they had on. The inside of the pub hadn't changed much. All the lager-taps were now back in use though and the piped music was a bit louder than usual. Anyway, we sat out the back over looking the railway and enjoyed the early spring sunshine.
Wantsum - 1381 | 3.80 | | Not in fantastic condition but quite acceptable. Pale golden-brown colour with earthy citrus notes. |
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | Not Tried
Moorhouse's - Pendle Witches Brew | 5.10 | Not Tried

Me and my dad fancied a trip to Canterbury and this ended up being our first port of call. I really like this pub, very chilled out and relaxing. Perfect place to while away a few hours, just a shame it's so far from the station.
Ramsbury - Flint Knapper | 4.20 | | Nice fruity bitter with a little caramel. Maybe a little coffee, actually quite a complex beer. I rather liked it. |
Springhead - Charlie's Angel | 4.50 | Not Tried
Loddon - Hullabaloo | 4.20 | Not Tried

A few people were in eating. We sat at the back on the comfy sofas and enjoyed our beer. Well I enjoyed my beer; my companions enjoyed their real-cider. There were 6 beers on but I can't remember the other 2
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | | Bit of caramel in it this time. Well balanced, refreshing light brown bitter. |

Oakham - Beermonster | 4.80 | Not Tried

A swift visit for a quick pint. Quite a few people in which kept Linda busy on the food front.
Banks's - Young's London Original (was Bitter) - previously brewed in Bedford and at Wychwood | 3.70 | | Just what I wanted. I often overlook this because I can get it more or less anywhere. It's an excellent light-brown session bitter. Hints of syrupy malt and earthy hops. Ace. |
