Lunchtime and busy, very busy later on for the dedication of the Roger Marples Bench. We sat in the Lord Warden Bar and quaffed a few ales, and enjoyed the excellent filled rolls that were on offer.

Afternoon - pity to also hear that Roger's wife is not well now! Had a good chat with brewers and publicans showing their support.

What Friday afternoons were made for. Sat in a yacht club drinking beer at this small but rather good beer festival
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - 1066 Old Ale6.70ExceptionalFruity as hell and just that full malty flavour. Some dryness on finish
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur5.90ExceptionalDrunk side by side with the Dark Star Revelation and the Jaipur was better more drinkable less harsh less obvious alcohol.
Dark Star - Hophead (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.80ExcellentCracking condition. But I am too hard on this beer. Its got great tangerine flavour
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Wild Swan (was 3.5%)3.40Excellentso much flavour in such a weak beer
Dark Star - Revelation5.70ExcellentHoppy as hell but maybe a touch too aggressive hoppy

I came here with Phil who signed me in as a visitor. Only the two of us in along with the bar steward. We had a great time drinking session strength local bitters over a 4 hour period. The crew from a boat from Medway came in later in the evening and we were chatting to them as well. Goachers Fine Light seems to be a permanent fixture here. I can't remember the last time I just sat drinking one beer for such a long session. Excellent quality, both at the bottom of the barrel and the fresh top of the barrel too.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goacher's - Fine Light Ale3.70ExcellentThe bottom of the barrel had that distinctive malty marmaladey character to it whilst the fresh barrel was not unsurprisingly fresher, but hoppier too. Both wonderful and in good condition too.
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid3.70Not TriedPhil sat and drank this all night, so it must have been in pretty good nick
