Got very busy very quickly then quiet again, nice evening.
| Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 4.70 | | Sunning hops, crisp citrus with a super finish. |
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | Perfectly crafted beer, complex balance of hops and malt with many undertones, superb. |
| Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - Gale's HSB | 4.80 | | Perfect condition but not really a favourite of mine. |

I had the day off so a pint was in order. The conversation , in this the mother of the micropub revolution, centred on the new micropubs about to open around the country. The more the better. Excellent visit as always.
| Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Excellent condition. I look forward to the day Dark Star are able to put the recipe back to what it was. Still a lovely pint though. |

Saturday evening and I came to meet some DFLs. Hophead was back!!!! Oh and 4 people from Beckenham athletics turned up to drink some Hophead. Which I suppose is the type of warm up you need before running the Herne Bay 10k the following day.
| Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Really very good indeed. Almost back to it's best. No fault of Martyn, it's still a damn lovely beer. To be honest, sat with a 2 pint jug and a glass, I couldn't have been happier. Maybe I was a bit sluggish. I'd had 2 naps during the day already. |

It had been a long day. I'd spent 4 hours in a meeting in the afternoon at work. I came here and everything changed. It's all about the beer, the people, the atmosphere, the landlord, the company, new faces, old faces, talking about beer and anything else. Not seen Andrew in months, but it's like putting on your favourite shirt. Comfortable and makes you feel good. Anyway I had a great time, thanks Martyn.
| JW Lees (see also Lees) - Harvest Ale | 11.50 | | Just incredible. Walnuts, dry oloroso sherry. Sheer brilliance in a glass. |
| Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Now I will admit, I haven't had this on cask in months and months if not years. This was really really good. Perfect balance of peppery hop and malt. Full of character, fresh on, and just really excellent, every mouthfull |
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | More peppery hoppy than malty fruity, but enjoyable. |
| Orkney (Sinclair) - Dark Island | 4.60 | | Good malty beer. |

Dear Managing director of Dark Star, please, 1) put your Hop Head recipe back to what it was and, 2) give Martyn a ring so he'll take it back. Right, enough begging... Tonight I met Ian in the Butchers. It was an average night in the Butchers. Of course, "average" in the Butchers is AWESOME. It was nice to see that Glyn went home with the beer that was deemed suitable rather than what he wanted - what were you thinking Glyn! If you want superb beer quality, witty conversation, great atmosphere and a legendary landlord you should come here.
| Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA | 4.50 | | Excellent condition. Best Skrim I've had for years. Really good stuff. |
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | | Nice. Green peppery hop, hint of caramel. Excellent condition |
| Mighty Oak - Maldon Gold | 3.80 | | Nice refreshing floral golden beer. Excellent condition |
| Orkney (Sinclair) - Dark Island | 4.60 | Not Tried | |

| Adnams - Broadside | 4.70 | | Lovely stuff, full bodied and rich, good malt with some hops. |
| Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Easy Rider | 4.30 | | Nice, but I think the Pale Rider is a tad better. |
| Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Adnams - Tally-Ho | 7.00 | Not Tried | |
| Mighty Oak - Oscar Wilde Mild | 3.70 | Not Tried | |

Met here for the Ripple tour. Pub went from empty to full in 30 minutes.
| Kelham Island (probably brewed by Thornbridge now) - Pale Rider | 5.20 | | Distinctive notes here, not a beer I'm familar with, very nice hops with fruity citrus. |
| Ripple Steam - Classic IPA | 4.50 | | Good stuff, nicely balanced. |
