Friendly welcome, lots of locals in.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Nice pint of Harvey's, perhaps lacking that yeasty edge as seems to be the norm these days. |

| Arkell's - Wiltshire Gold | 4.00 | Not Tried | |
| Kent - Beyond the Pale | 5.40 | Not Tried | |

18:00 visit. A real treat to finally visit the one pub that has eluded me on all my previous City visits. Not a disappointment either, very, very good and more so today with a beer festival in progress, with several ales (not noted) on the bar and plenty more down the garden on a stillage. Alas, a swift visit with only two sampled plus an oddity, a whisky called Adnams Spirit of Broadside? Very nice too.
| Castle Rock - Preservation Fine Ale | 4.40 | | Top class. |
| Westerham - Bohemian Rhapsody | 4.00 | | Vgc today. |
14 Aug 2012 (Eddie)
5pm visit: quite early evening
| Moorhouse's - Premier Bitter (was 3.8%) | 3.70 | | Nice session bitter |
| West Berkshire - Dr Hexter's Healer | 5.00 | | Strong flavoured ale with hints of orange zest |
04 Aug 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Olympics on TV but otherwise quiet here.
| Black Sheep - Best Bitter | 3.80 | | Went for this as no local beers available. Inoffensive bitter with good hop and malt balance. My score 15/20. |

Jane, Isabel came for the beer festival. The pub was very quiet but the garden (where the beer festival was) was very busy, especially with Morris Men. The landlady was very friendly and pointed out some games Isabel could play. Good beer festival and really nice pub.

| Fyne - Jarl | 3.80 | | Excellent condition. Pale gold colour. Mandarin and grapefruit flavours |

As always a wonderful evening. Andy had a special "Winter Warmer" selection of beers on which were all in excellent condition.
Thornbridge Jaipur IPA,
DarkStar Winter Meltdown,
Greene King Abbot Reserve,
Gadds Dark Conspiracy.
The pub was fairly packed early on (7PM) but thinned out a bit by 9PM A local church choir attended to sing carols around the piano and most of the pub joined in. Beer Highlight for me was Dark Conspiracy - fabulous :0)
This continues to be right up there in the top 3 pubs in Canterbury for atmosphere, ale and authenticity. Katrina, the proprietor has got it absolutely right, continuing and even improving on the recipe which made the pub so successful during the tenure of Kurt and Margaret Temel, who ran the pub for over 25 years. Long may it continue :0)
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dark Conspiracy | 4.90 | | This is just fabulous |
| Dark Star - Winter Meltdown | 5.00 | | I really like this as it has a hint, but just a hint of seasonal spices. In cracking condition and i would have had more, but for the presence of Gadds Dark C... |
| Greene King - Abbot Reserve | 6.50 | | Very belgian in style and needed to be a bit cooler but in very good condtion |
| Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | Not Tried | I love this "proper" IPA but it's too drinkable for it's strength and I therefore avoid it incase I get "Jaipur'ed" again... Well worth trying if you have sturdy legs! |

Really friendly atmosphere on a Sunday lunch. Obviously most of the customers knew each other, but it was still nice.
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Really good pint of the yeasty brown bitter |
| Greene King - IPA (was 3.6%) | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
| RCH - East St Cream (was East Street Cream) | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Lancaster - Red | 4.80 | Not Tried | |

Friendly and relaxing. Nicely done out interior. Only 2 other's in enjoying the warm breeze wafting in the open door.
| Woodforde's - Wherry | 3.80 | | Whenever I see Wherry I have to have it. It's a long time since I've seen it on, years in fact, so my recollection of it's flavours is a bit hazy. Also I know the brewery moved. Anyway, it was good but not a wowing as my mind's rose tinted glasses thought it should be. |
| Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
| Castle Rock - Harvest Pale | 3.80 | Not Tried | |
09 Jul 2011 (Mitch)
5 beers on, all in tip top condition. The manager has got the art of cellarman down to a tee.
Biddendens cider also in exceptional condition, so a local cider drinker told me!
| Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Excellent - right temperature, clear as a bell and very fruity. |
| Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | A regular beer in this pub and always served in the best of condition. |
| Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Jaipur | 5.90 | | A labour of love by the Manager - set a challenge to buy this beer in - found it, arranged it and that takes some doing as this beer does not normally travel down South.
Strong for an IPA in the modern era, but VERY drinkable. |
