Jane was shopping in Canterbury so I had half an hour to kill. The pub was all but empty when I visited which gave it a lovely relaxed feel with the sunlight streaming in the windows. This is a very pleasant pub to drink in.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00ExcellentWonderful beer. Good Harvery's yeast with a fruity malt base with hints of fresh mango.

Was walking past and thought what the hell. Lovely and quiet inside and I had a view along the length of the pub into the garden at the rear.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Burton Bridge - Thrales Ale4.50AcceptableOrange golden in colour. Rich syrupy viscous mouth feel. Earthy and spicy beer with short lived finish. I think it was bottom of the barrel judging by the sediment in it so if I'd have got it a day or 2 earlier I could imagine it being quite nice.

Adrain and I got a seat at the bar from where, an hour and a half later I had to run to avoid missing the last bus home. Good atmosphere with a mix of students and locals
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00AcceptableMust have been bottom of the barrel as it went off soon after we had it.
Highgate - Irish Whiskey Ale4.60AcceptableBit of nothing really. Some malt and a hint of heathery whiskey I guess. Could have done without drinking it to be honest

Great pub and very friendly landlord. I've been going there for over 2 years. Normally drink Harvey's or will try one of their guest beers.

Having been told that the student union at Canterbury Christ Church was shut when it clearly wasn't we went to the New Inn. The beer range here seems to be getting worse each time I go in.

Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00AcceptableHarvey's alright but a bit tired

Pub no. 3 on my pub crawl after The Phoenix and Thomas Ingoldsby. Only me and 2 other drinkers who were talking about buses on the Isle of Wight. The landlord was his usual self. The pub itself is a converted terrace house with a front room that contains the bar, a games room with TV and a corridor cum conservatory. Bar has 6 handpumps that normally has something from Greene King plus guests
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hidden - Treasure4.80GoodDeep copper colour with bubbly beige head. Caramel, toffee, slightly toasty aroma with rich toffee/hop and ginger finish. Very good dry malt aroma. Malty, chewy, bit of ginger spice. Pretty good this. Some roasted malt.

Early evening and there were a handfull of regulars at the bar. Usually there are more beers on than this but maybe there'd been a heavy lunch time session.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Robinsons - Lighthouse4.00PoorA cider-hop nose with intensive apple and hop taste. There was a fair bit of sediment in this so I couldn't tell if it was on the turn or supposed to taste like a hopped cider. Either way it wasn't very nice.
