Pretty quiet tonight which surprised me. No band on though so that explains it. Still a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Dark Star - Saison | 4.50 | | Typical Belgian style flavour to it. Quite sweet and easy drinking. |
Burton Bridge - XL Bitter | 4.00 | | A little fruit and malt but altogether pretty bland really. |

Got here at around 11.30 expecting it to be really busy, but it was instead absolutely dead. There was only us and a couple of blokes at the end of the bar. Not sure what went wrong tonight...
Brentwood - Volcano | 4.60 | | This was quite good. Good combination of hops, malt and fruit. Easy drinking strong bitter. |
Ringwood - Old Thumper (now superseded by 5.1% version - separate entry) | 5.60 | Not Tried

I was realy in the mood for a pub trip all day, so by 7 I gave in and dragged my mates along with me. We just caught the end of a blues band that were playing, they were great. An extremely drunk man did come up to the group of us and offer us outside, I found it a little odd but he wandered off after a few minutes of being the brunt of our jokes so it was fine.
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - ESB | 5.50 | | Rich and almost creamy full bodied bitter. Very fruity with a nice light hoppiness. Wonderful beer. |
Westerham - Special Bitter Ale "1965" | 5.00 | | I liked this a lot. Nearly the perfect beer to be drinking on a warm spring evening. Smooth and hoppy with anice malty finish. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Theakston - Old Peculier | 5.60 | Not Tried
Whitstable - Native Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
Cottage - Metropolitan Ale | 4.70 | Not Tried

For some reason it seemed like a good idea to come here after The Butchers. After running from The Butchers to Herne Bay train station then Ramsgate station to here I had really earned a pint. We'd just missed the band that was playing unfortunately. Still very lively with a right old mix of people.
Theakston - Old Peculier | 5.60 | | They've changed this and I don't think it's for the better. It seems a lot lighter in colour and not as strong tasting. Old Peculier used to be one of my favourite beers, this was good but not as good as it once was. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Ringwood - Old Thumper (now superseded by 5.1% version - separate entry) | 5.60 | Not Tried
Cottage - Metropolitan Ale | 4.70 | Not Tried

Came out for the usual mid week pub trip. Chatted to Alistair about his latest adventures then joined my mates.
Westerham - British Bulldog "BB" (was 4.3%) | 4.10 | | I really liked this. Light and malty bitter, a real pleasure to be drinking. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Common Conspiracy | 4.80 | | This was the last pint out of the barrel so it might be a little inaccurate. A good beer, quite bitter and lager like. Plenty of hops going on. Yup it's good. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Theakston - Old Peculier | 5.60 | Not Tried
Ringwood - Old Thumper (now superseded by 5.1% version - separate entry) | 5.60 | Not Tried

After being forced into going to the trendy wine bars of ramsgate it was good to get back to what I know. Busy with a lot of people stood watching the band playing. There was a large group of us so we sat upstairs.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | On fantastic form. Light and deliciously hoppy. |
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dragon's Blood ESB | 5.20 | | Really good. Smooth malty and quite sweet. |
Highgate - Irish Whiskey Ale | 4.60 | | Subtle tasting ale with a hint of whiskey at the end. Malty with a little smoke hanging around. Nice enough but nothing special. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Ringwood - Old Thumper (now superseded by 5.1% version - separate entry) | 5.60 | Not Tried
Whitstable - Kentish Reserve | 5.00 | Not Tried

2nd pub on our tour and the lunch special was exceptionally good value. Landlord very kindly did a cellar run of the Dark Star Saison for us
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - ESB | 5.50 | | Best pint of this beer I've had. Fruit was amazing |
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Went down well with my chicken fajitas |
Dark Star - Saison | 4.50 | | It's a Belgian wit, good satsuma fruit |
21 Mar 2009 (Andrew)
We visited the Foy Boat first but didn't stay as they only had one guest on and it wasn't very interesting. Churchill's was busy with plenty of people eating. We ate too. Fish n Chips and a pint of Landlord was £5.50! Ian got chatting with the landlord who did a cellar run for us.
Timothy Taylor - Landlord | 4.30 | | Fruity, earthy pint of landlord |
Whitstable - Oyster Stout | 4.50 | | Smoky sweet nutty slightly sour dark stout. |
Dark Star - Saison | 4.50 | | In good condition but just not my kind of beer. Wheat's for bread. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried

Only 5 other people in. I haven't seen it this quiet in a long time. Although it has to be said; the ale selection seems to be slipping mildly as of late.
Batemans - GHA | 4.20 | | The aroma was pure vomit. The flavour was a little better. Synthetic toffee and sugar. Wow this is a very poor beer. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - DogBolter Dark Porter | 5.60 | Not Tried
Ringwood - Old Thumper (now superseded by 5.1% version - separate entry) | 5.60 | Not Tried

Came to see the band Juicy Lucy. Pub was packed out, great atmosphere.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - DogBolter Dark Porter | 5.60 | | I had the first pint out of the barrel. It was gorgeous, thick and rich. Like christmas cake in a glass. |
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 3.40 | | Towards the end of the barrel, quite hazy with a bit of an aftertaste. Everything else was normal hophead though. Grassy and hoppy. |
Cottage - IKB | 4.40 | | Not bad. Malty with a bit of fruity caramel. Another average beer from Cottage. |
Fuller's (part of Asahi Europe) - London Pride | 4.10 | Not Tried
