Excellent local pub, outside the City Walls but easy walking distance of the centre and the trains and bus stations. Buzzing with a wide selection of drinkers including a birthday party and a music group. Always a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the landlady. 7 cask ales, regularly changing throughout the week, 3 lagers and 7 ciders as well as a wide range of whiskys and gins.

Early afternoon, a new treat for a few of our group. They liked it. Sixth ale on from Wild Weather, Calleva 4.0 (too hard to add this - it takes an age to get to the “W” breweries).

Early Friday evening- very busy but thinning out as the after-workers disperse. 6 ales on, 5 listed plus Trade Winds - but I didn’t note which brewer.

Quite lunchtime visit. The two of us sitting in the bar & two in the garden. Barman busy sorting out pump clips, seems that there were a few casks of Goachers ales in the cellar as he was placing said brewery “s pump clips on the coming soon pole.

Mid evening for a couple of pints. This has to consistently be the best pub in Canterbury for choice of interesting ales and very reasonable prices*. About a dozen drinkers in - good ambience. “Like a rolling stone” on the jukebox just before I left. * still priced by ABV - tonight 4.3 and under @ £3.50, 4.5 @ £3.60 and 4.8 @ 3.70

Lunchtime- a group of us here to try Gadd’s “freedom day” brew: Booster. I arrived a bit late - just as the barrel was going on - ordered 4 pints at the bar and was served just like in the good old days. Let’s hope it lasts. (4 other ales on, not noted)
BeerABVScoreNotes
St Austell - Proper Job4.50ExcellentI really wanted to score the Booster higher - but after 2 pints of that I have to say that the Proper Job just had the edge.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Booster4.20GoodA special brew from Gadd’s to celebrate the end of most COVID restrictions. I believe that this has been supplied FOC to the pubs to help them recover. A light flowery number that went down very well.
