Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Jack WilliamExcellent07 May 2019 Very tasty. A premium price from Sheps as it is labelled a “craft beer”.

Jack WilliamGood16 Aug 2017 A very well kept, tasty blonde ale. No evidence of the provenance on the pump clip (as expected with Sheps) but certainly distinctive from the normal Sheps stable.

Jack WilliamPoor21 Sep 2014 Landlord spotted our faces as my son and I winced at the taste of this rather good looking beer - clear and with a reasonable head - but on the verge of sour. To his credit he immediately took the beer off and replaced the pints apologetically. End of the barrel - had been good earlier apparently.

HSBAcceptable05 Jun 2014 The pump clip claims American Craft Beer brewed by Samuel Adams. None of which would appear to be correct.
ChrisEGood05 Jun 2014 A pleasant refreshing beer but no wow factor.

Stephen HarrisGood18 Sep 2013 Golden and a bit hazy. Soft mouthfeel and an interesting, light hop taste that is heading towards lager territory.

Philip PirripNot Tried11 Jul 2013 Says "American Craft Beer" on the pumpclip. Has Kent become the 51st state of the U.S. then? Or 52nd if Puerto Rico joins too.

AlenomoreExcellent29 Jul 2012 Not sure of the brewing credentials of this ale but it was a top class brew. Very refreshing.

The Royal Oak, Mersham, Kent

WhoScoreWhenNotes
ChrisEExcellent20 Jul 2012 A collaboration brew between Sheps and the Boston Beer Company to provide a pale summer ale with a mix of American and English cascade hops giving a strong flavour of grapefruit. I had the very end of one cask, followed by a pint from a fresh cask, both were very good.
