A bit quiet early Friday afternoon, picking up when we left. Here for the Beer Festival.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Downton - Chimera IPA6.80ExceptionalWaited until last to try this. Dangerous and delicious. The high ABV is obvious but so drinkable. Stunning, I love this beer, perfect balance of malt and hops
Oakham - Scarlet Macaw4.40ExcellentGood bitterness match by a full malt body.
Saltaire - Cascade Pale Ale4.80GoodNice but a bit lacking on the hops and bitterness.
Skinner's - Lushingtons4.20GoodNice but average.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Al Murray, The Pub Landlord's Beautiful British Beer4.00GoodA bit disappointing for a Gadds. OK but average.

Excellent local free house. Warm welcome at all times. This weekend was the 3 G's and 2 C's weekend. Gadds, Goodys and G2 beers with Turnstone Brewery's Two Seas. All well kept, BBQ and live music on Saturday. Without a shadow of a doubt the best pub in Canterbury.

Came for a night out with Ian. The pub was running a beer festival and the garden was quite busy so we sat in the pub itself and listened to the DJ play a load of 80's indie stuff like Stiff Little Fingers. Friendly pub that is now apparently Ian's favorite in Canterbury.
BeerABVScoreNotes
First Chop Brewing Arm - AVA3.50GoodWell constructed light raspy citrus beer
Bristol Beer Factory - Nova3.80GoodLight gold herby rough hop beer.
Turnstone - Two Seas Pale4.30AcceptableWhat the hell is in this beer??? Tastes like burnt iodine! Ian reckons it's rye malt. I'll give it this score because it's probably good when you get used to it. Weird man.
Turnstone - High Seas4.80AcceptableSmells divine; of vine tomatoes and orange Opal Fruits (not Starburst, because this is not America). Tastes of Madeira oak barrels. Weird but nice.
