Visits Details
30 Sep 2011 (ChrisE)
Lunchtime visit, a good crowd of people all chatting with each other, 2.30pm closing seemed to come round very quickly.
| Canterbury Brewers - Foundry Torpedo | 4.50 | | |
| Abigale - Ridgeway | 3.80 | | |
| Wantsum - Hengist | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
21 Jul 2011 (Andrew)
Another first for me. A handful of locals in (but then it's a micropub so a handful of locals pretty much fills it up). Friendly.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Festiv'Ale | 3.80 | | Excellent condition. Wouldn't have known it was only 3.8% from the taste. Lots of aggressive citrus hops on this pale bitter. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 5 | 4.40 | Not Tried | |
| Wagglers (in Rolvenden) - VPA | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
30 Jun 2011 (Blair)
This has become our usual starting point on our adventures in ramsgate. Bumped into a few of my old teachers at secondary school. Great little place.
| Wagglers (Weltons) - Best Bitter DB | 4.00 | | Nice bitter. |
| Buxton - Moor Top | 3.60 | | Very bitter and hoppy with a lot more flavour than you'd expect from a 3.6. |
| Dark Star - American Pale Ale (some has also been brewed by Fuller's) | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
08 Jun 2011 (Blair)
Half a dozen others in, just enough to give it a 'busy' feel. I like it here, although I've been unlucky with the beer line-up on my last few visits.
| Banks's - Mild | 3.50 | | Red/brown coloured, I was hoping for a dark mild. Sweet and malty with a slight tang that reminded me of old speckled hen. Not bad but not particularly memorable. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - She Sells Sea Shells | 4.70 | Not Tried | |
| Wantsum - Dynamo (superseded by 4.3% version) | 4.60 | Not Tried | |
07 Jun 2011 (ChrisE)
A busy evening, we had a chat with Colin and enjoyed a couple of pints.
| Buntingford - Silence | 5.30 | | |
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Reeve's Ale | 4.10 | | |
| Banks's - Mild | 3.50 | Not Tried | |
27 May 2011 (Blair)
It's been a little while since I've been out in Ramsgate so a mini crawl was in order. This was stop #1. Only a few others in but it did start filling up as we left. A reliable place to find something interestinhg, but tonight wasn't one of it's best.
| Wantsum - Turbulent Priest | 4.40 | | A bit wishy-washy, a little malt and a dose of fruit. Ok. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 3 | 5.00 | Not Tried | |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Low & Behold | 2.80 | Not Tried | |
25 Mar 2011 (Pedro)
Lunchtime - decided it was time to see what Colin had set up
| Ascot - Starting Gate (formerly Alley Cat Ale) | 3.80 | | |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Common Conspiracy | 4.80 | Not Tried | |
| Abigale - Samphire | 4.10 | Not Tried | |
22 Mar 2011 (ChrisE)
We arrived at opening time, and before long there was a group of regulars enjoying the ales.
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Wife of Bath's Ale | 3.90 | | My first pint from Canterbury Ales, so I was looking forward to this, and I was not disappointed. A golden, lemon zesty beer. Very drinkable. |
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Dark Conspiracy | 4.90 | Not Tried | |
| Titanic - Nine Tenths Below | 5.90 | Not Tried | |
08 Feb 2011 (Blair)
Met up with a few old friends I hadn't seen in a long time. I can see this place becoming my pub of choice, good friendly atmosphere and always an interesting beer or two.
| Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 7 | 3.80 | | Just a top notch session pale ale. |
| Wantsum - Black Pig | 4.80 | | This beer has improved steadily since I first tried it and thought it was pretty mediocre, now it's a lovely beer. Roasted malt, a little fruit in there and a bit of smoke, great body to boot. |
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Miller's Ale (originally 4.5%) | 4.20 | Not Tried | |
05 Feb 2011 (Blair)
My first visit here and I was very pleasantly surprised. It's a really nice place to sit and sink a few pints and just the right size to always feel busy.
| Oakham - White Dwarf | 4.30 | | Fruity, hoppy and incredibly drinkable. I've only ever had this in winter but I imagine it's close to the perfect summer beer. |
| Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Miller's Ale (originally 4.5%) | 4.20 | | This wasn't great. Poor condition, very wishy-washy with just a hint of malt and fruit. Shame but I'm sure it will improve in time. |
| Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Blue Top | 4.80 | Not Tried | |
