Lunchtime and busy in this edge of town locals pub. Well timed visit as there was a beer festival in full swing in a tent set up in the pub garden.

INXS in the background - I liked it. Big community pub with a good beer line up. Specialises in giving elderly gents a seat at the bar. Interesting collection of bottle beers on the wall including Watney's Brown Ale.

12:00 to 14:00 Annual beer festival visit. My first time here since the change of owners in 2015 and good to see that nothing has changed. Pub was very busy and, as per last year's visit, the over 60 year old man made up 95% of the clientele.

11:45 onwards. Annual Valentine's beer festival visit. Nine of us braved the marquee. The pub was packed, nearly all men, average age late sixties. The beer ABV was better balanced than last year. Landlord said he had taken on my comments from last year when higher gravity beers dominated.

11:00 - 17:00 Annual Valentine's beer festival. Eleven of us. A good time was had by all. The storm hit Norwich whilst we were there and the marquee threatened to take off.
BeerABVScoreNotes
S&P - Darkest Hour Stout4.40Excellent5th beer. Good stout.
Axholme - Goze4.50ExcellentLast beer of the session. Not really ready but the Landlord gave into my request to sample it. Salty and sour, good copy of the German original.

Elgood's - Black Eagle Imperial Stout8.70GoodSeventh beer. Good but a sip of my mates Tally-Ho made it seem rather tasteless.

Annual Valentines Beer Festival in progress with around 30 beers stillaged in a marquee in the pub car park.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Sarah Hughes - Dark Ruby6.00ExcellentOn form here with a well rounded sweetish, fruity taste and a long vineous finish. My score 16/20.

Panther - Golden Panther3.70GoodA pleasant quaffable golden ale from the revitalised former Reepham brewery. My score 15/20.
Phoenix - Massacre4.70AcceptableA fairly dry best bitter with hop bitterness dominating the taste. My score 14/20.
Leyden - Winter Warmer3.80AcceptableNot really strong enough for the style, this was just a standard bitter with moderate hoppiness and a dry, bitter finish. My score 14/20.
